On this day in 1848: Town record has it that 3 feet of snow fell overnight, and mayor Clancy McTavish rode into town on his ox! He used the animal (named Bill) to bring the local children to school on a sledge. Imagine that! No pictures survive, but it’s documented and signed by the clerk. You can come see the original article in our April display at the County Journal Office in the Town Hall.
The YMCA is partnering with the Lion’s Club to start work on the new community mural by the old baseball field. We’re going to turn the ugly old steel wall into a huge town art project! Submit ideas to the Y within the next month, and stop by the info meeting on the 5th of May to find out more.
